Want to look better and feel better?

The benefits of an attractive smile for both men and women include enhanced self-esteem, improved relationships, and even new career opportunities. When we look and feel our best - starting with a great smile - we project a more confident and attractive image. First impressions, both personally and professionally, are formed to a great extent on appearance. Feeling proud of your smile improves our self-esteem, and can therefore improve all we do. Cosmetic dentistry is constantly evolving with new techniques, materials and equipment to help patient’s look and feel their best.
As a neuromuscular dentist, a key consideration for Dr. Popp in evaluating your dental health is your occlusion - the way your teeth come together. If the muscles of your face and neck don’t work in harmony with the jaw joints (the Temporomandibular Joints) and your teeth as you open and close your mouth you could be suffering from an improper bite, or malocclusion. Malocclusion can lead to a wide variety of symptoms and health problems. Fortunately, by utilizing the advanced scientific principles of Neuromuscular Dentistry Dr. Popp can correct your malocclusion often relieving many, if not all, of the associated symptoms. To learn more about Neuromuscular Dentistry visit www.leadingdentists.com.

Want to know about a non-surgical face lift?

Over time, as your teeth wear, you could experience loss of vertical dimension of your smile. Or, you could naturally have an over-closed bite (can you barely see your bottom teeth when you smile?) If this is the case restoring a proper, aesthetic vertical dimension can have the same effect as a face lift! Facial skin is smoothed, wrinkles can disappear and that “second chin” can be minimized!

Ever wish you had straighter teeth?

Porcelain veneers are the fastest way to straighten teeth without traditional braces. This is a permanent solution with many advantages with great results you can achieve with your smile.  Different than with braces, with the “instant orthodontics” of porcelain veneers you can choose the shade of white you want for your teeth.
Other options for straighter teeth include the Invisalign system, a revolutionary new alternative to traditional braces. Offering comfort, convenience and virtual invisibility during treatment the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, custom molded aligners to slowly move the teeth to their desired position.

Are you concerned about your teeth wearing out?

As we age, most people believe that tooth wear and abrasion is normal. Often however excessive tooth wear can be linked to a “bad bite” or malocclusion (the manner in which your teeth come together). By utilizing the technology and concepts of Neuromuscular dentistry Dr. Popp can analyze your current bite to determine if your muscles, joints and teeth are working together. If there is a problem with your bite Dr. Popp can correct the problem, often relieving many other symptoms associated with malocclusion. A proper bite is important in minimizing tooth wear and in insuring that any dental restorations you may have will last. Are you worried about bone loss from missing teeth?

Natural tooth roots are embedded in the jawbone, providing a stable foundation that allows the teeth to function properly. When teeth are lost or extracted, the bone that previously supported these teeth deteriorates, or resorbs. It is this deterioration or bone loss that can cause your face to look collapsed or prematurely aged. One of the most significant advantages of choosing dental implants to replace missing teeth is the implant’s “artificial root” that provides a place for the bone to attach, a process know as “oseointegration”.

Do you suffer from headaches and facial pain?

One of the most common type of headache is the Tension Headache, which typically originates in the muscles of the forehead and often feels like a band squeezing your head. The muscles of the face and head play an important part in the movement and function of the jaw. Since you move and posture your jaw throughout the day a problem with your occlusion (bite) can lead to abnormal tension in these muscles - which can lead to tension headaches as well as facial pain.
Fortunately, Dr. Popp is an expert in utilizing the concepts, techniques and technology of Neuromuscular Dentistry to objectively evaluate the status of these muscles as well as various other factors such as jaw trajectory and temporomandibular joint sounds. If a poor bite is a contributor to your headaches and facial pain Dr. Popp can correct your occlusion utilizing her expertise in the field of neuromuscular dentistry - building you a helathier, happier smile.
