How Does Invisalign Work?
Once your Invisalign aligners are ready, you will return to our office and be fitted with your first set. Following the instructions we will provide, you will need to wear your aligners for at least 20-22 hours each day for two full weeks. At the end of those two weeks, you will swap out your current set for the next one in the series.
Each time you make a switch, it is important that you keep your previous ones. Should you accidentally lose or break your current ones, your previous set can serve to keep your teeth from shifting too much while you wait for a new one to be created.
With each new set, you will feel some minor discomfort as your teeth gently shift. This is alerting you that they are moving in the right direction. By taking an over-the-counter pain reliever, it should alleviate any discomfort.
How Long Does Treatment Take?
Depending on your individual case, treatment times can vary from patient to patient. However, the average time a patient spends in Invisalign is between 12-18 months. It’s important to remember that as long as you wear your trays for the appropriate amount of time each day, you will not experience a delay in treatment.
