Tooth Extractions – Coronado, CA

Don’t Let Problematic Teeth Compromise Your Smile!

Tooth extractions are not something that Dr. Popp nor Dr. Bailey take lightly. If possible, our dental office does everything it can to avoid extracting teeth. But sometimes a tooth can be so damaged beyond repair that leaving it in the mouth could put other teeth at risk. If that is the case, we’ll make sure that your extraction is comfortable and personalized to your needs. The last thing we want is for your remaining teeth to be in danger of becoming compromised as well!

What is Involved in a Tooth Extraction?

After performing X-rays to get a closer look at the tooth in question, we’ll be better prepared to perform the actual extraction. If the tooth is easily accessible, we’ll break the tooth from the periodontal ligament, then use an elevator to gently rock the tooth back and forth until it’s loose enough to remove. If the tooth is not visible, we’ll create an incision in your gum tissue, then break the tooth into smaller pieces for easier removal. Before your treatment, you’ll be given local anesthetic to remove as much discomfort as possible.
